A more compelling pitch is just an episode away!
If you find yourself stumbling over your words or struggling to explain how amazing your offer is when discussing your services and products, you’re in the right place.
When and where to pitch?
There are numerous times and places in business where we need to pitch our products and services—be it on a sales call, at the end of a webinar, in emails to your mailing list, on social media posts, or sales pages on your website. We need to excel at pitching, both in writing and speaking.
Can I outsource it?
It’s easy to assume that hiring a copywriter is the answer to perfecting a pitch. While copywriters are amazing, they need a lot of information about your product, audience, and core message to craft a compelling pitch. Moreover, a copywriter can’t follow you 24/7, doing every single pitch for you. You never know when you’ll need to explain, or to whom.
Hiring a copywriter is brilliant for certain times, but most people try outsourcing before they’ve got the foundation sorted themselves. We have to learn to pitch our own products and services effectively.
Let’s build YOUR pitching skills instead…
I want to help you present a more compelling pitch by breaking down what needs to go into it and how to bring it all together. When you have the key components clear, you can present your pitch compellingly in various ways. A compelling pitch empowers your audience to make an informed decision.
So, what goes into a compelling pitch?
Value Proposition
Firstly, you need clarity on your offer’s value proposition, which is the transformation between before working with you and after, and why it’s valuable for the buyer. For instance, in my Take Off program, one component is lead generation. Before the program, clients may struggle with leads. After, they’ll know how to attract eager leads. They have validated their lead strategies by making sales. So, there’s a concrete difference from before to after completing the program. My value proposition for Takeoff has over 50 examples like this. Understanding these transformations is crucial.
Your Process
Secondly, it’s about your process. If someone sees an offer without explanation, it may seem like magic beans are being sold. Explaining your process helps the client to feel confident that they can successfully follow it. Be mindful not to overload your offer with bonuses that make it feel like hard work. Understand that while additional steps might seem valuable to you, your audience might find them daunting. The way you explain your process can make all the difference.
Your Difference
Lastly, why you? Your ideal clients could achieve the transformation on their own, albeit with more effort and time. Your job is to pitch why working with you is the better decision. Explain the difference you make in your client’s journey using clear and explicit reasoning, not just qualifications or how long you’ve been doing this. For instance, in the Take Off program, I help clients avoid distractions, saving time, money, and effort. I mentor them through building a business model suited to their personality and market, leading to sustainable profit.
More Compelling Pitches: Summary
The three components of a compelling pitch are value proposition, explaining your process, and highlighting the difference you make. Be mindful of the context in which you present your pitch. Whether on a sales page, a webinar, or a sales call, know what is a priority for your audience. Curate your pitch based on who’s hearing it.
