A Little Backstory: The Power of Saying Yes to High-Ticket

Let me start by telling you a story that really brought this topic home for me.

There’s someone in my Heart-Centred, Soul-Driven Entrepreneurs community—I’m going to call her Katie to keep things private—who’s been around for at least eight or nine years. Back in 2019, she was thinking about joining my Take Off program to get her business off the ground. We had a chat, and I was so blown away by what she does, I almost hired her on the spot! But here’s the thing: she only wanted to sell low-ticket offers—like $95 courses—instead of working one-on-one.

In the Take Off program, we focus on high-ticket, VIP-style work and learning how to actually sell and deliver those offers. So, I recommended that Take Off probably wasn’t the right fit for her at that stage, since she didn’t want to go the high-ticket route. She didn’t join, and I ended up hiring someone else one-on-one for the help I needed.

Flash forward to May this year. I see Katie pop up in my feed again after ages of silence, so I reached out to say hi. She’d taken some time off, but she was coming back to her business and even considering Take Off again. We had a catch-up Zoom call, and after we talked, I realised there are some BIG reasons I—and so many others—want to buy high-ticket, one-on-one offers from people I follow. This episode was born from that very conversation (with an awesome update about Katie at the end).

The 10 Reasons Your Audience Wants High-Ticket Offers

If you’ve ever doubted that people will pay “that much” or think the world doesn’t want high-ticket, here’s the reality from someone inside your audience (hint: me!)—and I bet there are loads just like me.

1. My Goals and Challenges Are Unique

Even if you think everyone’s situation is the same deep down, we (your audience!) don’t know that. We want you to treat us like individuals, not just another group member. Our situations feel unique, and we want a unique approach.

2. I Want Your Undivided Attention

If I’m investing my time and energy working with you, I don’t want to share. I want our sessions to be all about me. That personal focus is worth every penny.

3. I’m Done with Advice Shopping

I don’t want to dip in and out of a million free resources, groups, and “courses.” I just want to commit—deeply. To you! And I want to actually do the work, not coast through another DIY module.

4. Under-Resourced Providers Are a Big Red Flag

This might sting, but if you’re only charging low-ticket, I can sense when you’re stretching yourself thin, struggling to pay your bills, or not getting help around the house. I want to work with someone who’s resourced enough to hold space for me, not someone who’s teetering on the edge of burnout. I’ll gladly pay for that level of support.

5. Information Alone Isn’t the Answer—I Need Transformation

I can Google anything. What I can’t get for free is someone walking beside me, holding me accountable, and tailoring their expertise to help me actually create change. That’s what makes high-ticket worth it.

6. I Need Real Accountability

I’m excellent at talking myself out of stuff. When I join a cheap group or grab a low-cost self-study, it’s easy to slip through the cracks. If I go high-ticket, you’ll notice where I get stuck and help me stay on track. That’s huge.

7. I Trust Offers That Have Been Road-Tested

If you’re only offering a self-study course based on your theories and not real client experience, it’s a bit risky for me. I want to invest in something you’ve actually delivered, refined, and proven to work one-on-one. If I’m your first client, at least I know you’ll be responsive when something doesn’t work.

8. Please Don’t Delay! I Value Speed and Certainty

So many times I’ve joined a group program just to have the start date pushed back—again and again—while you wait for numbers to fill. I’d much rather pay more and start right now, one-on-one.

9. I Want Results Faster

In a group or a course, you have to wade through everyone else’s stuff. If we work one-on-one, you can zero in on my exact problem, skip the fluff, and I’ll get results so much quicker.

10. Low-Ticket Offers Just Gather Dust (and Guilt)

I’ve bought plenty of $49 templates, $28 eBooks, and $95 online courses. Most are unfinished. It’s not just a waste of money; it makes me feel guilty! Instead of piling on more “stuff,” I want to invest in something I know I’ll actually complete—with your support.

Let This Sink In…

Maybe this gets you thinking differently about what your audience really wants. Are you holding back from high-ticket because you think it’s “too much”? Or are you letting your audience make those decisions for you, without actually asking them?

Quick Reminder: High-Ticket Needs Fewer Leads!

Something that came up with Katie—when she was thinking about joining Take Off—was that she’d barely started talking about her business, and I was ready to buy. She only would have needed ONE lead to get her first VIP client. If you’re offering high-ticket, you don’t need hundreds of leads or a giant audience. High-ticket lends itself to deeper conversations and much higher conversions.

What Happened With Katie

After our chat in May, Katie had a mailing list of around 2,000 people and good engagement, but she was struggling to make consistent income selling group programs and low-ticket offers. So I suggested she put together a couple of one-on-one packages—a short-term one (just two sessions), and a longer-term option—and told her to just put them out to her current audience.

I followed up recently, and here’s what Katie emailed me:

“Tash, thinking back to that random post you commented on, it feels like a sliding doors moment. I had been flip-flopping for months about reaching out and joining Take Off, but the truth is, it felt like failure to join a startup program after six years in business. It was too much for my ego to handle. Even with the excuse of stopping for a year for maternity leave and then getting a part-time job.

After our chat in May, I made three or four sales in the first two weeks. My monthly revenues have been up and down, but my worst income month since May was just under $4k—before, that was my best month, if rarely. I’ve put my prices up twice and I still get three to four sales a month—even if it’s just a shorter-term engagement. The combo of the type of work I do and the sensitivity people have about sharing is probably the biggest factor, but I can also see my messaging was far too fluffy as well. I’m excited to hear the podcast episode when you share about it.”

Katie never joined Take Off. She didn’t pay me a cent—but she made those high-ticket sales because she already had a warm audience and finally offered them what they actually wanted.
