What do I mean by “launching successfully”?

Let’s start with a quick definition. Launches are limited-time campaigns, where you release a product, course, membership, or package using time sensitive events to attract hot leads and make sales. You might be launching a new course, or it could be a relaunch, like how I launch the Take Off Program around three times each year.

During a launch, I might run webinars to help people get closer to being ready to purchase the offer. Most launches last eight to ten weeks, though some can be as short as two weeks. For my own business, four to eight weeks is average. This short-term focus can catch you when planning your year, as you may go from an eight-week window launching one product to another, staying stuck in that short-term mindset of consistently launching… which can end up making them less successful.

The forgotten launch key

To deliver successful launches repeatedly, you need a key component that’s often forgotten: long-term audience growth. For each launch to be successful, it needs to reach wider and bigger audiences, especially warm ones. These audiences know you, like you, trust you, know your products, and are aware of your specialisation and experience. Therefore, long-term list growth is crucial. If someone is on your mailing list before a launch begins, they’re more likely to engage, sign up, and buy during that launch campaign.

Get it running autonomously!

Ensuring your launches become more successful is about list growth outside launches, having that growth on autopilot. It might even mean taking time off launching to focus on this.

It’s not ‘all or nothing’

Importantly, don’t fall into the trap of extremes—only launching once a year or not launching at all and relying only on evergreen funnels. In most cases, the best results come from the best of both worlds – get your list growing as efficiently as possible, with relevant lead magnets and potentially making evergreen sales any time… and supplement that with a live launch here and there, to create that conversion event.

While launching once a year is a model many advocate for, if the launch isn’t as successful as expected, it can lead to scrambling for income. Conversely, only using evergreen funnels may result in lower conversion rates as you miss the live events’ benefits.

In most cases, I recommend a balance—having evergreen list growth behind the scenes while also staging launches throughout the year. I prefer spacing launches four to eight weeks apart to focus on events like #Tashmas. While it’s focused on nurturing my warmest audience, I’m not in launch. My last Take Off launch was in February (doors close on 7th March), and I won’t launch again until June or July. Meanwhile, I focus on events like our upcoming virtual conference with some random promos and support from speakers. But in between official launches, my number one focus is list growth.

How do you grow your list consistently?

My number one strategy for growing my mailing list is free lead magnets and Facebook ads. This strategy helps to put my list growth on autopilot. I test strategies organically before investing in paid ads, ensuring I work from validated data and am confident in my return on investment. But there are SO MANY ways to grow your list, and my advice for you will differ depending on your stage of business, validation of your messaging, budget and time available.

Which is why… I have an epic free training for you!
