If you have been watching my socials or reading my emails over the last few weeks, you’ll know that at the start of September, I hosted the 2024 Heart-Centred Business Conference! (aka HCBC 2024)
It was absolutely brilliant. Period.
To help capture the magic, I’ve got two podcast episodes that are going to share some insights and lessons from the conference – this is part 1, in which I am sharing lessons from the different conference speakers, and podcast episode 419 is part 2 – which will cover my personal insights and lessons from hosting conference this year.
If you haven’t yet got your ticket to 2025 Conference, jump in sooner rather than later – it looks like we will be sold out in the coming weeks!
Tickets are at www.heartcentredbusinessconference.com – if you cannot attend our in-person event, we also have our Virtual Conference in March 2025, and tickets are available at www.heartcentredbusinessconference.com/virtual.
Let’s dive in!

The 2025 Heart-Centred Business Conference – Lessons from Speakers
Whether you were able to attend this event or not, I thought it would be really helpful to hear some of the key insights from each speaker.
Before I do that, I have to share that there were several times when I was sitting at my seat at conference, listening to one of the speakers on stage… I’m not even going to be humble about it. I was thinking to myself: “Oh, my goodness. Tash, Corbin, you are such a genius for putting this person on stage.”
This was the first conference where I was fully present and listened to every single speaker, whereas in previous years I’ve either had to leave the room or focus on setting up something else. The conference manager, Grace, did such a spectacular job preparing conference in advance. I could relax and actually be far more present in the room. There was also something special about the energy and speakers at this year’s conference, like, I couldn’t help myself but sit and listen. They were absolutely phenomenal.
Since conference, I did a lot of art journaling and reflecting on each of the speaker presentations, the notes that I took, some of the little videos and voice notes that I recorded. I’ve never done it so thoroughly after a conference, and it feels like the lessons from each speaker have had space to LAND. I’ll be doing that again for next year’s event as well!
Here’s a quick summary of the insights from each speaker:
Nartarsha Bamblett’s Acknowledgement of Country
- As part of the Acknowledgement of Country, Tarsh led a reflection exercise on connection to Country, Space, Culture, and Self
- This has prompted me to spend more time in nature and engage in more mindful walks, paying attention to my surroundings
- I had a big realisation in the part about connection to culture, that whilst I don’t necessarily feel a connection to culture related to my ancestral heritage, I do access connection via sub-cultures such as Taylor Swift and being a Formula 1 fan.
Kerry Rowett on Aligning to Bigger Goals
- Kerry Rowett discussed the importance of dreaming bigger and aligning with larger goals, and shared insights that she observed from working with mega-successful clients over the years, about what they did differently to align with bigger goals.
- My biggest insight was realising that I downplay, or sometimes don’t even share my goals in certain peer networks – for a range of different reasons, but mostly I can see it’s a self-limiting mindset, and one I am committed to breaking through.
Tina Tower on Organic Social Media Strategy
- Tina Tower spoke about organic social media strategies – her core message being that you NEED a strategy.
- Whilst I went into that session feeling quite confident in my organic social media strategies, it was a BIG insight when Tina covered the three foundations that support organic growth – An optimised website, a strong lead magnet, and crystal clear messaging.
- I realised that I have had issues with my website since 2015 – and whilst I have had a few updates and upgrades, I have had it on my list to overhaul my website for over 9 years now. So it’s TIME. That’s my commitment for Q4 – I will have a new website by the New Year! EEK!
Nartarsha Bamblett on Intuition and Identity
- Tarsh’s workshop asked us to reflect on our sense of identity, connection and purpose, which was something I hadn’t done for a while. It reminded me that it’s important to come back to these questions consistently.
- One of the exercises was to practice gratitude for the good and the bad, and I shared with the conference room that I am grateful that I created conference, and I am grateful for the financial loss of the first one, AND the fact that I kept running it from there.
Emma Veiga-Malta on Unleashing your Inner Creative
- Emma led a gorgeous workshop on different ways to nurture and embrace creativity, which included an art journaling exercise – and it uncovered some BIG insights for me.
- I realised that I had been treating creativity as a reward for good business behaviour, rather than embracing it as part of the process. Interestingly, I used to do that with self-care and rest – treat it as a reward, rather than a necessity.
- Since conference I have done SO much more art journaling, and I have had creativity dates with myself and my niece already.More of that pleeeeease!!!
Denise Duffield-Thomas on Money Mindset
- Denise Duffield-Thomas took us on a gorgeous, story-based journey through her personal insights and lessons in becoming a multi-millionaire
- I could sit and listen to Denise every single day, because I find the way she shares to be so insightful and have a lot of parallels with my own experiences.
- The big insight this time around was seeing how my sense of responsibility for others can create a feeling that more financial success will just create more responsibilities – possibly a reason why I have had an income plateau for the last few years. Interesting!
Leonie Dawson’s Channelled Message – You are Golden
- Leonie Dawson stood on stage and delivered a sermon. One that brought tears, laughter and deep insight.
- One of the things I keep remembering from Leonie’s presentation was that birds don’t sing their morning song, and then check to see how many likes they got. They sing for the joy of it. They sing because that’s what they are made to do. That’s part of their identity.
- I’ll be singing a LOT more consistently from here… if you know what I mean!
Lisa Twohig on Audience Connection
- Lisa spoke about the importance of spending quality time with your audience, even in small, everyday interactions.
- The big take-away insight for me came from Lisa’s workbook question – What’s the easiest way for me to spend more quality time with my audience?
- I’ll be playing with some new strategies, and reminding myself that quality time is a priority – because I absolutely agree that it is!
Rebecca Saunders on Going Narrow
- Rebecca Saunders shared her journey with creating and then narrowing the focus of her membership, the Champagne Lounge
- It was powerful to hear once again that reminder that niching is super-important – it gives you the opportunity to go deep with your audience, and to get more specific with your messaging.
- I have also committed to attending more local events, and getting more face-to-face time with other business owners, because hearing about all of Rebecca’s adventures and the in-person events that she runs made me realise how much I have missed that face-to-face component of business and networking.
Clare Wood on Cash Flow with Confidence
- Clare Wood taught us how to manage and forecast cash flow with confidence, using a really simple but effective weekly system. It’s already been set up in my business!
- My biggest insight, though, was that MOST systems in my business, not just cash flow management, benefit from more regular, more short-term reviews.
- The more consistently you use the system, the more likely you are to stick with it – so I have shortened the intervals on a bunch of things to see how that works, and already it’s made a big difference.
My workshops and keynotes
- I actually spoke three times at conference this year:
- Keynote at the Gala Dinner – the key message was to fit your own mask first, especially in relation to money – make money for YOU.
- Workshop during conference on Growth in an Economic Downturn – which centred on the marketing and messaging changes that you need to make when things are tight financially. In essence, you need to be clear on which segment of the market you’re attracting, because the gap between those who are impacted by economic contraction and those who aren’t impacted widens significantly.
- Final Keynote: Make Money, Make Change – which brought together all the messages from each speaker, through the thread of making a difference to those around you by making more money. I generally don’t need to tell my audience to make change, make a difference, think about other people… I have to remind them to focus on making money, because money generates the opportunity to make those big changes, and make a real difference.
There you have it! My top lessons from the conference speakers! Next episode, I’ll share the lessons from hosting conference.
And don’t forget – GET YOUR 2025 TICKET!
Until next time, I cannot WAIT to see you SHINE.
