Have You Got the Right Environment for Business Success?

In this episode of the Heart-Centred Business Podcast, I want to ask you a fundamental question: Have you got the right environment for your business success? So many entrepreneurs—especially heart-centred ones like us—are trying to grow a business like a weed in the cracks of pavement. But living things only truly thrive when the environment supports them.

Let’s go deeper into this together and uncover the four Ps I look for when I’m building an environment where both my business and I can truly flourish.

Let’s dive in…

People: Who’s In Your Corner?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself who you need around you to thrive as a business owner? Think about your environment. Do you have the right people supporting you, cheering you on, and helping you reach your goals?

It’s not just about having people in your physical space—there’s your solo time as an entrepreneur, your team, your peers, and your mentors. Some people help you move forward; others distract or even slow you down. And this applies both to the folks in your life in person and those you connect with online.

Are you operating with a supportive network, wise mentors, encouraging peers, and a team that’s got your back? Or are you missing some of those pieces, maybe trying to do everything yourself? It’s so worth taking a step back and thinking about whether you’ve really surrounded yourself with the people who are the right fit for where you’re going.

Physical Environment: Where Do You Thrive?

How does your workspace make you feel? Do you need colour, space, organisation, and great tools? Is your tech reliable, and do you have what you need to actually enjoy being in your workspace?

I know for me, different business tasks require different setups. I’ll often do my podcast planning in a buzzing cafe, surrounded by people and energy—that’s perfect for getting creative and coming up with fresh ideas. But when it’s time for writing or admin, I need a different environment altogether.

Ask yourself: Are you setting yourself up with the physical surroundings you need for each type of work you do? Or are you working where you can, maybe feeling scattered or cramped, and not letting yourself really flourish? Creating an intentional physical environment makes such a difference.

Plan: Do You Know Where You’re Going?

Your plan is a massive part of your business environment. Do you know what you need to work on? Have you balanced your time between CEO strategy, marketing, sales, connecting with clients, creative work, and all the behind-the-scenes admin that keeps everything running?

I firmly believe that the most productive businesses are those where the owner knows exactly what they need to do when they start the day. For me, real productivity is about sitting down and just knowing what to do, in a way that works for my strengths and my energy—not just following another giant to-do list or running from one idea to the next.

So check in with yourself. Are you creating a plan that supports you and your productivity, or do you always feel like you’re making it up as you go, adding more and more things and just feeling chaotic? Giving yourself solid CEO time to plan isn’t just about getting things done; it’s about making sure you actually move forward without burning yourself out.

Practice: Are You Growing, or Just Demanding Perfection?

What routines and rituals do you have that help you (and your business) grow? Do you let yourself experiment, try things, and know it’s okay if not everything works the first time? Or are you stuck in that perfectionist mindset, where if it doesn’t go perfectly straight away, you end up spiralling and beating yourself up?

I really believe business success is about having a practice-based environment, where trying things is encouraged, and mistakes are just steps on the way to mastery. Are you letting that happen for yourself, or do you expect perfection from the beginning? The right environment here is where it’s safe to play, to try, to fail and learn—and keep moving forward.

The Four Ps—Your Foundation for Success

So there you have it:
People, Physical Environment, Plan, and Practice. These are the four Ps I always look at to make sure I’m building the right environment for success for myself as a business owner. When you bring these together, you set yourself (and your business) up to truly flourish.

I hope you found this episode helpful. If you want to go deeper into any of these, I recommend two things:

If the doors are open, you can join us; if not, there’s a waitlist. This is something we do very consistently inside the planning system because I know how powerful it is for growth and creating the right environment.

Just remember: it isn’t only about picking the right strategy and following it blindly. The right strategy will never get you all the way if you don’t have the right environment—the people, the physical setting, the plan for your time, and a practice-based approach. Otherwise, you risk feeling alone, unsupported, scattered, and hard on yourself. And honestly, you deserve so much better in your business journey.

Until next time, I cannot WAIT to see you SHINE.
