Freshen up to promote your opt-in
If you’ve gone to all the effort of creating an opt in, I want you to get the maximum number of people signed up for it as possible. But, how do you do it?!
I’m willing to guess everyone has faced this challenge before, where you feel like you have shared promos for your freebie, promoted all you can, but it’s just not getting traction. Often, the real reason it’s not working is because you are just using the same kind of content over and over to promote it.
Generally I see one of two things happen:
1. There are four or five different promos that just get copy-pasted all over the internet (which start to get penalised for being duplicate content, and people tire of quickly)
2. In order to keep changing things up, AI is used to generate promos, but they start to read like every other promo online.
What I want to do with this episode is to help you inject some fresh life into your promotional strategy.
Promoting your opt-in is all about the angles
We have to be consistent in promoting our freebies, but that doesn’t mean we use the same old promos and tactics. For instance, with my Nail Your Niche training, I repeatedly came at it from different angles in my podcast episodes. Whether talking about niching for better messaging or explaining the importance of identifying your niche, it’s about finding what resonates.
People need to hear things multiple times, in varied ways, before they take action. You never know what opening line grabs someone’s attention, or what story resonates… until you actually write it and share it.
Don’t create your promos in isolation – think of this as a conversation with your audience.
Writing? It’s a matter of practice
What I want to do is give you 10 different angles you can try to liven up your freebie promos, without tripping over those two issues. But please, I beg of you – remember that writing for your business is a skill. It takes practice.
The number one thing I don’t want you to do with this is to then use it to generate AI prompts, or outsource your writing to another person or tool! All you’re doing is delaying your skill development. Not a savvy biz move.
Ten opt-in promo prompts
Let’s jump into those 10 angles you can use to breathe new life into your opt-in promotions.
This not only helps your promo strategy but also improves your skills in expressing the value proposition of your freebie. Remember – every asset deserves a brilliant launch. Especially assets that do such a brilliant job of both growing your list and moving people closer to readiness to buy, like a juicy opt-in does.
- To The Point: This is your simplest form. Tell your audience about the resource, why it’s awesome, and where to grab it. This works best with your core followers who already trust you.
- Controversial Angle: Got a hot take? How does your view differ from the mainstream? Use that to capture interest!
- Advice First: Share a solid piece of advice or a strategy, and then offer the juicy free resource as a way for them to dive deeper.
- Personal Experience: What’s your story? Any experiences that inspired this resource can help humanize and sell it.
- Why It Was Created: Did you make this because you had repeated conversations with clients or saw a need in the market? Share the creation story!
- I Wish This Existed: Reflect on why you wish this resource had been available to you—it reinforces the need.
- Testimonial or Success: Highlight stories of success, either your own or those of others, that stem from using similar strategies.
- What It Is Not: Discuss what this resource won’t do, focusing on the benefits of what it avoids.
- Perfect Timing: Why is today the best day to solve this problem? Create urgency around your resource.
- What Will It Save: Time, energy, frustration – tell your audience what pain points this opt-in will alleviate.
Build Your Unique Voice
Reminder: No Chatbots allowed here! Don’t outsource your promotional content writing to AI; rely on your own unique voice. This exercise builds your skills and helps ensure that what you put out there truly stands out.
